Description

High-fired Cone10-11 ceramic stoneware pottery vase. High-fired to 2350 degrees in a homemade kiln in a gas reduction-type atmosphere. Glossy, handmade unique layers of flowing glazes. Clean finish. High-end, individually made, unique pieces masterfully hand thrown on a pottery wheel. Artist signature is represented as a traditional potter’s “chop” (hand-carved clay stamped frog).

All pieces are handcrafted by artisan from Virginia, USA.

Bumps made by using an old wooden tablespoon held against the outside of a vessel as index finger is pressed from the inside outward. This creates a consistent round bump to the exterior of the vessel. Glazes behave interesting as they find the path of least resistance around these bumps. These bumps give the user a functional gripping point.

Dots are made by using a liquified clay called “slip” that is deliberately squeezed on to an object one little dot at a time to create a raised surface. This gives the form texture and interferes with the fluidity of the layers of homemade glazes.

Durable.

Perfect for a utensil holder. Can be used as vase.

Approximately 6” diameter by 9” tall.
